At the present time, travelers are unable to get from Albuquerque to Denver without changing trains in LA or Chicago. New Mexico, Colorado and Texas are applying for federal funds to study the viability of a high-speed rail system from El Paso through New Mexico to Denver. Congress has authorized 11 high-speed rail corridors nationwide. Ten have been designated and Governor Richardson and Senator Udall are hoping this will be the 11th.
