Denver Zoo visitors are in for a treat this spring as a rare De Brazza's monkey born on Dec. 19 begins exploring her habitat. Kanani can be seen in the Primate Panorama exhibit at the Zoo with her mother, Marinda. Kanani's father, Kisoro, was rescued by conservationists from the black market in the Republic of Congo, before arriving at the Denver Zoo in 2006.

Kisoro came to Denver Zoo in 2006 and is believed to have been born in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He was rescued off the black market as an orphan illegally up for sale to be used in the pet trade or as bush meat. He was not returned to his native habitat because he lacked the skills to survive in the wild. Marinda was born at the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo and came to Denver from the North Carolina Zoo in 2009. The two were paired under recommendation of the Association of Zoos and Aquarium’s (AZA) Species Survival Plan (SSP) which ensures healthy populations and genetic diversity among zoo animals. Fortunately, the couple has proved to be an excellent match.
Hey Holly just popped in to say thank you for your friend request. It is humbly accepted. I am sorry for not responding sooner but I had to do some mowing today along with a few other errands. On top of that I am moderating two political articles that I wrote and they are driving me nuts. LOL Half the time I am not even sure which one I am in. :=))
Seems Marinda was born not too far from where I live. Fort Wayne In. is about 250 miles from me, give or take a few miles. I lived and worked in Indianapolis for 17 years and regularly serviced accounts from Indy up as far as Angola right on the Michigan state line. Seems odd that these little guys would do as well as they seem to be doing in such cold climates when they originate in the African Congo. LOL Actually, Ft. Wayne appears to be just a tad further North than Denver but neither is as close to the Equator as the Congo. Brrr! Poor little guys. :=))

It's a pleasure to meet you, shepherd0886! You're welcome and don't worry about the timing! I'm just northwest of Denver myself.
Same here Holly. I have only been in Denver once to service a Humana hospital site. It was cold and they were in the middle of a dust storm so I really didn't get to see much. LOL Now that I am retired and a widower I may get to visit again under easier circumstances as I have relatives in Havre Montana and have promised to go see them. Then I could loop down and see some of my late wife's relatives just outside of Las Vegas. However that will probably be awhile as I have one more resonsibility on my hands in carring for my surviving Mother. Again, welcome to my 'nutsy' little world. You will find me a bit strange if you follow some of my writings but I assure you I am quite harmless. :=))

You'll definitely be seeing some of my quirks about the Vine. I like nutty people better anyway.
Hmmm. Well if it helps you any, I tend to fall somewhere between a Pecan and a Macadamia. LOL Earthy and meaty sometimes but also sweet and delicate when need be. My writing ranges from serious on the political articles to raunchy in my EroticaVine articles (some of which are autobiographical by the way). So what ever your tastes I try to satisfy. :=)) I look forward to your comments and ideas. See ya.
