Today is a sad day. My dog hasn't been acting right for the last couple of weeks and today he went under the deck outside and wouldn't come out. My kids called me at work. I made an emergency vet appointment and rushed home to get my dog, Copper, to the vet. The doctor said his abdomen was distended and asked about x-rays and an ultrasound. I okayed the procedure. They gave him a mild sedative to calm him down and he stopped breathing and his heart stopped beating. They performed CPR on him, then came and asked me if I wanted them to continue. It turned out he had a large mass on his spleen that ruptured. I asked them to cease CPR.
They brought him in so we could say goodbye to him. The vet's office was just wonderful and gave us a pawprint mold that we can bake and some of his hair. We are going to bury him in the garden tonight. I asked my two kids to think happy thoughts about Copper and remember the good times, because Copper wouldn't want us to be sad.
Anyhow, I just had to get this out of my system and I thank you for reading. If you wish to share about a pet you have lost, please feel free to do so!
